Moscow does not consider it necessary to involve third countries to escort vessels with Ukrainian grain. This was stated by the Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Russian Foreign Ministry Petr Ilyichev in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In addition, Ilyichev noted that Russia is actively cooperating with the UN in the issue of grain exports. Among other things, the parties are working to unblock the export of Russian fertilizers, grain and other products. Without solving this issue, the problem of food security cannot be solved, Ilyichev noted.
On August 18, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to meet with UN Secretary General António Guterres and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. It is planned that Guterres will visit one of the ports from where dry cargo ships depart.
The grain deal, which made it possible to start exporting grain blocked in Ukrainian ports, was concluded in July. The respective agreements were signed separately by Russia and Ukraine with Turkey under the UN certificate. As part of the deal, a safe corridor was opened for the passage of ships with grain, they are also inspected to exclude the transport of weapons and other prohibited cargo.
On behalf of Russia, the documents were signed by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The first memorandum assumes the obligation of the UN to remove various restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets. The second defines the algorithm for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products from the Black Sea ports of Ukraine.
