The Russian Embassy in the United States urged American journalists to stop “buttering Russophobic fabrications” about strikes on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Ukraine. The statement of the diplomats was published in the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.
The embassy pointed to the “disinformation campaign” unfolding in the American media; in order to accuse the Russian military of carrying out artillery strikes on the territory of the nuclear power plant.
The real state of affairs is exactly the opposite, Russian diplomats stressed. They pointed out that it was the Ukrainian side that fired shells on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant on August 5, as a result of which power lines and water pipes were damaged. At the same time, this is not the first provocation of Kyiv, the embassy noted.
“We call on the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency to condemn the criminal actions of Kyiv and take urgent measures to prevent provocations at radiation hazardous facilities in Ukraine”,&mdash ; the message says.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for international inspectors to be granted access to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant after the strikes. it's suicide,— he stressed at a press conference in Japan, Reuters reports.
Earlier, the military-civilian administration of Energodar reported that on the night of August 6-7, the Ukrainian military fired at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant from a jet multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) “Hurricane”.

Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the CAA of Zaporozhye region, added that the fires that arose as a result of the shelling of the power plant were extinguished. According to him, due to damage to the water intake system, problems with water remain.
Before that, on August 5, Rogov announced the shelling of Energodar and Zaporizhzhya NPP, as a result of which a fire broke out on the territory of the station, shells damaged two power lines . In addition, a flare fire occurred at the hydrogen station at the nuclear power plant.
The Russian Ministry of Defense regarded the attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant as nuclear terrorism, and warned that an accident at the station would cause a global man-made disaster.
Zaporozhskaya NPP— the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, it is located in Energodar. On February 28, four days after the start of the military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the territory of the station was controlled by Russian troops.
