The head of the DPR Pushilin: more than 60% of houses in Mariupol are subject to demolition Earlier, he said that specialists from all over Russia would arrive in the DPR for a large-scale construction

In Mariupol, experts assess the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure, it is already known that more than 60% of the houses are subject to demolition, said the head of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin. His words are quoted by the Donetsk News Agency (DAN).

“As for communications, the situation was not so sad. Those specialists who are now carrying out restoration work on water supply facilities and other things are not as pessimistic as they seemed when we were able to freely enter the city for the first time, — added the head of the DPR.

Pushilin assured that the city would be “completely restored”.

A month earlier, in early April, the mayor of Mariupol, Konstantin Ivashchenko, appointed by the DPR authorities, said that it would be impossible to restore 15-20% of the housing stock of Mariupol, and up to 70% of the houses received “some kind of damage.” According to him, 200 thousand people left the city, remained in it— at least 300 thousand.

At the same time, the mayor of Mariupol, Vadym Boychenko, appointed by the Ukrainian authorities, estimated the degree of damage to the city infrastructure at 90%, and 40%, according to his data, could not be restored.

Pushilin in early May announced “a construction site on an unprecedented scale.” To form non-standard approaches to the construction process, he said, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin arrived in Mariupol. “All regions of the Russian Federation will send their specialists to us, and the restoration process will begin to boil,” — promised the head of the DPR.

Mariupol has been in the war zone from the very beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine. The assault began at the end of March, and on April 21, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to the president about the capture of the city, Vladimir Putin in response ordered to block the Azovstal plant, where the Ukrainian military remained.
