The US authorities approved the supply of HIMARS MLRS and ammunition to Ukraine in early June, and then the Pentagon promised to transfer the necessary intelligence to the Armed Forces for strikes.
By the end of July, Kyiv received 12 such systems. “This is part of more than 20 [installations] that the US and our allies have pledged to hand over. We have also trained 200 Ukrainians in the use of HIMARS and training for more continues,— said General Mark Milli, Chairman of the US Chiefs of Staff Committee.
At the end of June, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny said that HIMARS were already being used in Donbass. The representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitsky, did not rule out the use of HIMARS against Russian targets in Crimea.
Moscow has repeatedly criticized the supply of weapons to Ukraine by Western countries. President Vladimir Putin pointed out that in this way the West intends to “delay as far as possible” conflict. At the same time, the Kremlin said that the weapons supplied to Ukraine were not enough to prevent Russia from achieving its goals during the special operation.
