Roskomnadzor blocked Patreon and Grammarly resources, access to the services page is restricted at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.
The basis for this was Art. 15.3 of the Law “On Information”, including materials that disseminate unreliable socially significant information under the guise of reliable messages.
According to the Roskomsvoboda project, in the case of Patreon, the reason was a statement from the editors of the student magazine DOXA (blocked by Roskomnadzor) regarding military operations in Ukraine dated February 25. Grammarly has blocked a page with a resource statement about the suspension of work in Russia and Belarus. Since the sites work using the HTTPS protocol, the entire resource is not available.
Patreon— a site where authors of creative works can distribute their works for a paid subscription. Donations are collected through it, for example, YouTube channels and podcasts. Grammarly— an artificial intelligence-based service to help you write texts in English.
Since the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Roskomnadzor has blocked dozens of websites, including media outlets. In particular, at the end of July, the site of the magazine “No” was blocked. (short for “New story-gazeta”), which was created by the journalists of “Novaya Gazeta”. «New story-newspaper» reported in Telegram that the resource was blocked for “discrediting”. It lasted seven days and nine hours.
