President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the head of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov, suggested discussing security issues. The meeting was broadcast by RBC.
“Vyacheslav Vladimirovich, I know that you would like to talk about the results of your recent work, and, of course, discuss security issues,” — Putin turned to Gladkov.
The Belgorod region is located on the border with Ukraine. The border areas of the region have been repeatedly shelled since the beginning of hostilities. Since April 11, a high (“yellow”) terrorist threat regime has been introduced in the region, the last time it was extended on August 8 until August 22.
In early August, the regional authorities decided to temporarily close schools and kindergartens in five districts of the Belgorod region, located in a five-kilometer border zone. Children will continue their studies in other institutions.
On the night of July 3, Belgorod came under fire. The Ministry of Defense reported that the city was hit by Tochka-U missiles. with cluster munitions. As a result, four people died— one Russian and three citizens of Ukraine. Several more people were injured. Multi-apartment and private houses were damaged.

In mid-July, a quadrocopter dropped an improvised explosive device into the library building in the city of Grayvoron, 9 km from the border. The villages of Nekhoteevka, Zhuravlyovka and Sereda were also under shelling in the Belgorod region.
